New York is a state in the United States of America.

New York was established as a state in 1788.
In 2010, a duel occurred in Harlem between the Hulk and Abomination.
On May 4, 2012, Erik Selvig opened a portal in New York, unleashing the Chitauri upon New York City. The battle between the Avengers and the Chitauri, later named the Battle of New York, lasted for hours and costed billions to repair.
In the years that followed, New York would become a battleground for various battles and duels, including an ambush on the Staten Island Ferry between Spider-Man and Vulture. As part of the Infinity War campaign, the Black Order arrived in Greenwich Village to steal the Time Stone from Doctor Strange, resulting in an attack on Greenwich Village between Strange, Iron Man, Spider-Man, and Wong against the Black Order.
In the aftermath of the Snap, Clint Barton, taking up the identity of Ronin, massacred various members of the Tracksuit Mafia. In 2023, following the Blip, the Avengers Compound in New York was destroyed in the Battle of Earth.
