Doctor Stephen Strange is a Master of the Mystic Arts, the former Sorcerer Supreme, and a former neurosurgeon. Successful yet arrogant, Strange's career ended when a car crash permanently crippled both of his hands. Strange traveled to Nepal in search of Kamar-Taj after Western medicine had failed him. Strange was taught by the Ancient One in the ways of magic, and was later drawn into a conflict with Kaecilius and the Zealots. After the defeat of Dormammu, Strange was made the protector of the New York Sanctum.

During the Infinity War, Strange was made aware of Thanos's campaign to obtain the Infinity Stones. Strange, carrying the Time Stone, was targeted by the Black Order. Strange joined Iron Man, Spider-Man, and the Guardians of the Galaxy in order to stop Thanos. Seeing no other possibility where the Avengers win, Strange willingly handed over the Time Stone to Thanos and was subsequently snapped away as part of the Blip. Strange later returned in 2023 to fight Thanos.

Following the revelation of Spider-Man's identity by Mysterio, Strange agreed to cast a spell to make the world forget that Peter Parker was Spider-Man. However, the spell went awry and various enemies of different versions of Spider-Man were unleashed upon the multiverse. Strange attempted to use the Macchina di Kadavus to kill them, but was thwarted by Parker, who later agreed to return them back to their universes at the cost of everyone, including Strange, forget of Parker.
