The bombing of the Vienna International Centre was a terrorist attack committed by Helmut Zemo in order to bring the Winter Soldier out of hiding. On the morning of June 22, 2016, during the ratification of the Sokovia Accords at the Vienna International Centre, Zemo, posing as the Winter Soldier, planted and detonated a bomb inside the building, resulting in the death of King T'Chaka and eleven others.

The incident divided the Avengers further, with many of the Avengers believing that the Winter Soldier bombed the Vienna International Centre.

Background[edit | edit source]

Following the Avengers' response to the Attack on the IFID Headquarters, the United Nations drafted what would become the Sokovia Accords, a set of legal documents intended to limit the Avengers. The Sokovia Accords divided the Avengers, with Iron Man, Black Widow, Vision, and War Machine attending the ratification of the Sokovia Accords in Vienna.
