The attack in Lagos was the result of an operation by the Avengers to capture Brock Rumlow in Lagos, Nigeria.
Background[edit | edit source]
The end of Project Insight resulted in the battle at the Triskelion. During the battle, a Helicarrier collided into the Triskelion. The crash left Hydra operative Brock Rumlow with severe scars and burns, and he was hospitalized. Upon hearing about Alexander Pierce's death, he assaulted his nurse and left the hospital.
Emboldened, Rumlow stole various items from the remnants of S.H.I.E.L.D. and became "Crossbones". Rumlow's actions attracted the attention of the Avengers.
