The Mirror Dimension, another universe in the multiverse

The multiverse is the term that refers to multiple universes. A single universe in the Marvel Cinematic Universe consists of realms, planes, planets and pocket dimensions separated from one another in a variety of physical and magical ways. The areas beyond the realm of normal existence is known as the Void.

The multiverse in some respects can be considered a collection of what-if scenarios. These other universes, also known as timelines, may be similar but different in many ways. One notable example is "What If... the World Lost Its Mightiest Heroes?", a timeline where Hank Pym exacted revenge on S.H.I.E.L.D. by killing off members of the Avengers. In this other timeline, Loki successfully took over Earth because the Avengers Initiative was never formed.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • The multiverse is a real-world hypothetical concept that posits that multiple universes besides our own may exist. Another term for this is the many-worlds theory.
