Maria Hill was the former Deputy Director of S.H.I.E.L.D. and an associate of Nick Fury. Regarded as a pragmatic commander, Hill served a pivotal role during the Avengers Initiative.
In 2014, Hill came to Fury's aid during the Hydra Uprising, and helped put an end to Project Insight. Following the dissolution of S.H.I.E.L.D., Hill found work in the human resources department of Stark Industries, although remained in contact with S.H.I.E.L.D..
