Nathaniel Richards was a scientist. Upon discovering the multiverse in the 31st century, Richards unknowingly created a conflict, known as the Multiversal War, and ended the conflict using Alioth. As He Who Remains, Richards created the Time Variance Authority, a fictitious organization dedicated to preserving the Sacred Timeline.
Richards was killed by Sylvie Laufeydottir, bringing about Kang the Conqueror's rise to power.
