The Zealots were fanatical worshipers of Dormammu, led by Kaecilius. They sought to expand the Dark Dimension into Earth.

Practitioners of Eldritch magic and former Masters of the Mystic Arts, the Zealots staged an assault against the Masters of the Mystic Arts. Although the Zealots were able to kill the Ancient One and successfully destroy all three sanctums, Doctor Strange bargained with Dormammu, granting the Zealots immortality as Mindless Ones.

Formation[edit | edit source]

Following the death of his wife, Kaecilius became a Master of the Mystic Arts. Although corrupt in his motivation for joining the Masters of the Mystic Arts, the Ancient One promised to expand Kaecilius' spiritual knowledge. Unsatisfied with the knowledge he was given, Kaecilius confronted the Ancient One, and formed the Zealots with several other disgruntled Masters of the Mystic Arts.
