The dwarven massacre was a massacre of the dwarves committed by Thanos.

The massacre

Following the failure of Loki and Ronan the Accuser in retrieving the Space Stone and Power Stone respectively, Thanos sought to retrieve the Infinity Stones himself. Thanos traveled to Nidavellir, where he encountered the dwarves. Thanos demanded the dwarves make him a gauntlet capable of wielding the Infinity Stones; the dwarves obliged, but were subsequently massacred by Thanos with the exception of their king, Eitri, who was spared but had his hands permanently disabled.

Aftermath

In the aftermath of the massacre, Nidavellir became a wasteland.

In 2018, Thor would enlist the help of Eitri in creating Stormbreaker, a weapon capable of killing Thanos.
