Template:Quote/doc

This is a documentation subpage for Template:Quote. It contains usage information, categories, and other content that is not part of the original template page.

The Quote template is used to add a block quote into an article. This is easier to type and more wiki-like than the equivalent HTML <blockquote></blockquote> tags, has additional pre-formatted attribution and source parameters.

This template should be used for longer quotes (four or more sentences); for short, one or two-sentence quotes, use Template:Cquote2.

Usage

Parameters

• first parameter (required) - the quote itself; do not add quotation marks around it
• second parameter (optional) - the author
• third parameter (optional) - the source; if the source is in-universe, the name of the author is enough; if using a citation template, place it in the second parameter instead
