Groot was a Flora colossus and a member of the Guardians of the Galaxy. An accomplice of Rocket Raccoon, Groot joined the Guardians of the Galaxy following his arrest in Xandar.
During the battle of Xandar, Groot sacrificed himself to save the Guardians of the Galaxy. Rocket Raccoon planted part of Groot's body in a potted plant, creating Baby Groot.
