After the duel of Monaco, Hammer attempted to get Stern involved in the design of the Hammer drones, although Ivan Vanko refused their help.

Senate Armed Services Committee hearing[edit | edit source]
Stern was the chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee. In the first Weaponized Suit Defense Program hearing, Stern asked Stark to turn over the Iron Man armor. Stern called James Rhodes to testify, cutting off parts of his assessment of Stark to present his own narrative. Stark presented evidence that other countries were years away from replicating the Iron Man armor, including efforts from Hammer Industries; Stern then cursed at him.
