The destruction of the Chinese Theater was an accidental detonation committed by Jack Taggart on the TCL Chinese Theatre. Taggart, who overdosed on Extremis, exploded, causing major damage to the theater and injuring Happy Hogan.
The explosion resulted in a major escalation of Aldrich Killian's War, and caused Tony Stark to get involved in the conflict.
