The battle of the Shadow Realm was a confrontation between Thor, Valkyrie, and Mighty Thor, and Gorr the God Butcher in the Shadow Realm.
Following the attack on New Asgard, Gorr anticipated that Thor would attempt to save the children Gorr had stolen in the attack in the Shadow Realm.[1] Upon Thor's arrival, Gorr attempted to steal Stormbreaker from Thor, and successfully did so. Gorr would later use Stormbreaker to access Eternity's realm.
